Mas L’Emporda is a grand 18th-century Spanish estate. It has retained all the grandeur and style of the elegant mansions of the period while at the same time featuring the most modern of conveniences within its resplendent walls.
The house sleeps 22 people, making it ideal for a private family getaway, friends’ reunion, corporate retreat or celebrations such as anniversaries, birthdays or weddings.
Once you enter through the graceful arched doorway you are led to a series of inviting lounges, with magnificent views over the Empordà and the Pyrenees. Cool alabaster walls frame the grand salon’s majestic fireplace.
Each bedroom is uniquely decorated in delicate tones. Sink into a deliciously deep oval bath, surrounded by glass walls that open onto the surrounding forest, for the ultimate in tranquility.
Dining is a truly Catalan experience at Mas L’Emporda. Enjoy a Spanish banquet, freshly prepared by the in-house chef, under the stars on one of the many open terraces or in the elegant dining room. The region is also home to some of the most celebrated restaurants in Spain, including El Bulli and El Celler de Can Roca, ideal for those rare moments you may feel like venturing outside the estate.
Mas L’Emporda has extensive facilities, including a dedicated swimming pool complex, gym, football field, basketball court, paddle court, an outdoor barbeque, a summer kitchen housed in an ancient barn, and a cinema.
The main villa has seven suites and two bedrooms. The suites all feature an en-suite and have air conditioning/heating, TV, CD player, DVD player, Phone, iPod dock, and fridge. Six of the suites have a fireplace and two of the suites plus the two bedrooms have a safe.
In the Director House, there are two twin-bedded suites, a living/dining room, a kitchen and terrace.
In the Guard House, there is a double room with king size bed and a twin-bedded room, bathroom, living/dining room and kitchen.
Mas L’Emporda is at the heart of the Golden Triangle, located in the “Empordà”, in the North East part of Spain, known to the locals as the “Spanish Tuscany”- touching with the French border and Pyrenees on the north, the Mediterranean on the east and Barcelona 120 Km south. The capital of the province is Girona.
The landscape of the Empordà is composed of fields of sunflowers, rice, wheat and cypress trees, protected apple orchards and fields, with medieval villages among them.
Its coast, The Costa Brava, combines towns and coves with crystal clear water, beaches, rugged cliffs and islands of biological interest such as the Medes. There is also an archaeological site of Ullastret Iberian and Greek and Roman Empúries.
The Empordà is a region with a rich culture and history, heavily influenced by its geographical position. It is best known for its medieval villages and the artist Salvador Dali with his three museums.
Most of the local landscape is protected and is home to the Natural Park of Les Gavarres, the Marshes of the Empordà, Cap de Creus, the marine reserve of Medes Islands, the Natural Park of the Albera and the Bassegoda area.
Nowadays, the Empordà is one of the top gastronomical areas in the world with the influence of Ferran Adria and his restaurant “El Bulli” in the past, and actually with Joan Roca and his brothers with their restaurant “El Celler de Can Roca”, known as the second best restaurant in the world with three Michelin stars.
